Document Everything

People tend to underestimate the power of documentation. Documenting your business is a key ingredient in achieving success. As a small business owner you will want to keep track of every aspect of your business. From what you spend your money on to how each marketing strategy is performing. In addition it is a good method to help you track your progress. You can document this by charting a course or outlining the steps you are going to take to achieve a certain goal. You should have an outline describing each step and a deadline for completing the task. This is a great way to look at your progress and help you decide where you want to focus your time and energy. Also during your learning process it can be critical to use documentation. One specific thing you will want to document is the dates when you were working on or learning some new information. This will allow you to organize your notes for each category of your training material. This brings us to creating files. The best way to keep yourself organized is to create a filing system. One that works well for your needs and allows you to easily reference any part of your training or business material with ease. You will also want to create files on your computer for each area of your business also. From your training material, to your lists of goals, to your e-mail accounts. The more you organize and document your business the more time it will save you. And this in turn will give you more time to dedicate to growing your business or spending time with family. So you can see why documentation is a key component in the success of your business and an important step toward reaching your goals.
